Transmigrants Experiences of Recognitional (in)Justice in Indonesia’s Environmental Impact Assessment

This paper unpacks the environmental justice concerns of rural migrants in relation to land tenure and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes. We explore “geography recognition”, whereby sense community, identity place interact produce unequal experiences recognitional EIA process. develop our argument by using qualitative research a village case study East Kalimantan, Indonesia, involving transmigrant communities indigenous Kutai people. highlights how failure recognize transmigrants’ creates barriers their meaningful participation EIA.
